The Edgar Branch Library has a collection of 15,000 books, including paperbacks, compact disks, music, books on cassette, videos, magazines, and basic reference material. There is a variety of titles for adults, youth and children. Several computers are available for internet research, word processing or other applications. The library holds special programs for children, including preschool programs weekly during the school year, teen programs, and summer reading program for children of all ages. A book club meets the first Tuesday of each month for book discussion.

The Edgar Family Resource Center works to help parents learn new and additional positive parenting skills. They sponsor a “Drop-In Playtime” at the Edgar Village Hall Thursdays from 10:00 Am - 11:30 AM for parents, caregivers and preschoolers; birth thru age 5. Drop-In Playtime moves to the Family Resource Center for the summer months. Exciting toys and play activities are provided to enhance brain development and introduction to school readiness skills.

The Edgar Public School District has classes for Early Childhood and 4-year old kindergarten through Grade 12 . Breakfast and lunch programs are available for all students. Block scheduling is implemented for middle school and high school students. A state approved Summer School Program is also available for students living in the district.

ST. JOHN’S CATHOLIC SCHOOL

St. John's Catholic School has a full academic program for 4K-8th Grade consisting of Religion, Reading, Mathematics, Penmanship, Science, Social Studies, Spelling, Forensics, Spelling Contests, and more. Children are also active with sports and music programs offered at the Edgar Public Schools. The school day begins at 8:00 AM, with dismissal at 2:55 PM.

Food pantry to assist people on short term basis. Distribution on the first Wednesday of each month. Easter, Thanksgiving & Christmas food baskets with the makings of a dinner are available to struggling families.
