Edgar the Bear

This goes back a long time ago when Edgar was a wee bear. When he was little he hated his name Edgar. All the bears would tease him and his name and he promised himself that one-day he would be famous. So here is his great big adventure and how his name became known all through the woods.
He was walking in the woods one day when all of a sudden he heard this noise. It was a big boom and he got really scared and he went looking for my momma. When he went to where she was watching me, she was on the ground and it looked like she was asleep but didn’t move. He realized then that she was dead and he will have to find food and water and shelter so he could live on his own. He has no friends and all bears call him names like an orphan and laugh at him when he would cry. He would feel so lonely at times that he wished his momma were here right now.
One time when he went down to the river to fish, and all of a sudden he heard a wildcat scream. So he ran and ran until…Oh NO!!! Those orange and black tigers from Stratford are attacking the poor wildcat!!! Edgar thought quickly then ran and started taking on those tigers like there was no tomorrow. Pretty soon those cowardly tigers just ran back to where they came from. The hurt wildcat said, “Edgar you saved my life. I would have never gotten out alive without you. “That’s no problem,” Edgar said. “I don’t mind at all.” “You’re my hero,” said the wildcat.
Edgar took the wildcat to the town hospital. Edgar got the poor wildcat to the hospital, and he was just fine. After the wildcat was out and just barely limping, everybody was asking the wildcat what had happened so he told the story as best as he could and everybody went looking for Edgar. They couldn’t find him anywhere, when someone said, “Edgar was walking home, that was the last time I saw him.” Then everybody started walking to his house with a big jar of honey for him to congratulate him. When they heard a big, loud growl deep in the forest. They all ran to see what was happening when the animals all saw that the Pittsville Panthers, and the Port Edwards Black Hawks were beating up on Edgar the Bear.
The panthers and the black hawks had their fair share of surprise then. When Edgar the Bear came out of the blue and fought off the panthers long enough for- the human – Edgar to call the National Guard. When they arrived the general was attacked and killed. When they found Edgar they made him general. They also made the Wildcat second in command. But little do they know that tigers were being imported from Stratford as reinforcements.
Edgar knew he had to get more than just people on his side so he called up all of the wildcats, bears, foxes, and deer they had. Pretty soon they had all of the forest animals on their side, and that would have to do.
When finally the last truck from the National Guard showed up, all of the tigers, panthers, and black hawks that weren’t killed got taken to the Vets to get put to sleep.
But something still wasn’t right, and no one could remember what it was. All of a sudden the wildcat screamed and everybody thought they’re were more tigers, panthers, and black hawks but there weren’t it was Edgar the Bear. “He’s, he’s dead,” the wildcat cried. “He saved my life and now he’s dead.” That was a sad day for all of the forest animals. So the next day they buried Edgar where his house used to be before they made it into a town. To this day, everybody remembers Edgar the Bear and not only by his carved statue, but they could never forget how brave Edgar was that day.
